The artwork, by Walter Crane, first appeared in his 1887 illustrations for "Baby's Own Aesop." Aesop was a slave and storyteller who lived in Greece around 650-520 BCE. Baby's Own Aesop presents the famed fables in short rhymes. The book and Crane's illustrations, which were also printed on tiles, are still popular today.
