Located near the town of Kalabaka, Meteora is a beautiful landscape in central Greece. Over 500 years ago, monks built 24 monasteries on top of stone pilars as they were inaccessible and safer options from the Ottoman invasions. In 1988, UNESCO added the Meteora monasteries to the World Heritage List. There are currently six that are open to the public and are amazing to visit.
