St. Martin designates the French side of the 87 square mile island while the Dutch side is called St. Maarten. It is the oldest officially open border in the world and is the smallest landmass shared by two nations. This island has most beaches and restaurants per square mile in the world. The resorts are beautiful and people are genuinely warm and friendly. After Hurricane Irma struck the island in 2017, the islanders were left with a lot of destruction. This bar was built using the driftwood that washed up and stands as a testament to the strength and resilience of the wonderful people of Saint Maarten.
