This photograph comes from a calcium enriched mineral (plagioclase feldspar) called labradorite. The blues and greens have a pearly translucent, iridescent quality (or labradorescence) with irregular shapes and striations of brown, black, yellow and even a small amount of pink. This is a common coloration for labradorite which is often used as a gemstone and is a favorite among many RockHounds.
