A 19th and a 20th century Czech composer, born in Nelahozeves near Prague. He had a national idom style with that of the symphonic tradition. 8 of his operas have librettos in Czech. His most successful operas is Rusalka. After he got married he left the National Theater Orchestra, and secured the job of Organist at St Vojtech. He had a collections of Chamber music, Poems, and symphonies. He was also a choir boy.
