Western Frontier Woman Greeting Card Affiliate icon

A vintage western frontier woman wearing a buckskin skirt. Euro-American women weren't accustomed to wearing buckskin clothing and only wore woven fabrics. Native American women sometimes had a combination of woven and buckskin clothing. Unlike Native American men's buckskin clothing, women took care to fully hand sew the clothing patterns together and not lace the pieces together. Native American women in the east usually wore a plain wrap-around buckskin skirt with a fabric blouse or a bucksin pullover top to protect them from the weather or when Euro-American visitors were in their village. Southwestern Native American women preferred the hand sewn side seams instead of the wrap-around buckskin skirt. It's a little hard to tell if this is a Native American woman or a Euro-American woman, but she most likely associated with American Indians in some manner because of her clothing. The clothing information was researched from this website: http://www.gareneker.com/ndxwskin.shtml
