Colorized Vintage Photo 1936 Oklahoma Truck Grille with license plate| A cool historic piece for a wall gallery. This is a colorized poster style artwork I made from an old photo courtesy of NYPL PD collections. This was probably the grill of a truck driven by a refugee from the dust bowl. 1936 was a very bad year for Okies... The dust storms were horrible, the crops had all failed starting in 1930 and by 1936 the state was more like a sandy desert and most people had already headed west in search of work with all their possesions piled up on the back of the pickup trucks and cars that became their homes. The plan was to get to California and make a better life but most of them ended up in migrant worker refugee camps living in multi family tents, which probably made them miss living in their vehicles. This Photo is a stark reminder of how quickly the nation can go from prosperity to poverty and everything we have to be thankful for if we live in America. I live in the state of Oklahoma which thankfully has made a full recovery from those hard times of the Great Depression and Dust Bowl. #1936 #oklahoma #truck #licenseplate #grille #colorized #photograph
