Mary as Mater Dolorosa Mother of Sorrows SAU20 Postcard Affiliate icon

ïImage Credit (SAU 20): Antique NeoGothic image of Mary as Mater Dolorosa (Mother of Sorrows) by Baron Jean-Baptiste Bethune (1821-1894) from a loose page probably from a prayer book printed in chromolithography with gilt accents and published by the Socièté de St. Augustin, Bruges, Belgium, late 19th century, after 1892. From the designer's private collection of religious ephemera. + The quote beneath the image is the thirteenth stanza of the hymn Stabat Mater (“At the Cross Her Station Keeping”). It reads: “Fac me tecum pie flere, crucifixo condolere, donec ego vixero” which freely translates “Let me mingle tears with thee, mourning Him who mourned for me, all the days that I may live”.
