Mary Mater Dolorosa Jesus Ecce Homo Greeting Card Affiliate icon

Image Credits (SAU 20 & 21 ): Antique NeoGothic images of Mary as Mater Dolorosa (Mother of Sorrows) and Jesus entitled Ecce Homo (Behold the Man) both by Baron Jean-Baptiste Bethune (1821-1894) from two loose pages probably from a prayer book printed in chromolithography with gilt accents and published by the Socièté de St. Augustin, Bruges, Belgium, late 19th century, after 1892. From the designer’s private collection of religious ephemera. + The quote beneath Mary's image is the thirteenth stanza of the hymn Stabat Mater (“At the Cross Her Station Keeping”). It reads: “Fac me tecum pie flere, crucifixo condolere, donec ego vixero” which freely translates “Let me mingle tears with thee, mourning Him who mourned for me, all the days that I may live”. + The quote beneath the image of Jesus is from Isaiah53:4. “Vere languores nostros ipse tulit et dolores nostros ipse portavit” which translates as “Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows” (ASV – American Standard Version).
