2-sided Christ the Lord Is Risen Again (MW 01) Garden Flag
Alleluia! Proclaim a “Happy Easter” to family and friends with this splendid vintage-style garden flag here with a color-coordinated yellow border. This flag’s handsome imagery blends typography and floral ornament with a large, prominent cross. The texts consist of the first verse of a popular Easter hymn, “Christ the Lord Is Risen Again”. The original hymn was composed in German by Michael Weiss (d. 1540), a Silesian pastor of the Bohemian Brethren and a contemporary of Martin Luther. The translation of the lyrics into English was produced by Catherine Winkworth (1827-1878), a well-known translator of German hymns and compiler of biographies of German hymn authors. Although Winkworth’s translations are often tweaked to conform to more modern phrasing, nevertheless, they continue to appear in modern English-language hymnals today. + Also available with a red, blue, or green border. + Image Credit (MW 01): Christ the Lord Is Risen Again, antique chromolithograph originally published by Marcus Ward and Company, Belfast and London, United Kingdom, late 19th century, from the designer's private collection of religious ephemera.
