Life, however, had a way of putting her between a rock and a hard place. For this reason, she is venerated as patron saint of lost and impossible causes. Devoted to Christ’s Passion, she received a partial stigmata at the age of sixty: a chronic wound in the forehead as if from a crown of thorns that bled for the next fifteen years. It is her principal attribute. + Feast: May 22 + Image Source (M 015): Antique image of St. Rita [of Cascia] from a 1904 devotional print in chromolithography originally published by A. & M. B. [Albrecht & Meister of Berlin], Germany. From the designer’s collection of religious ephemera.
