This painting was the central panel of a late 15th-century altarpiece from the Augustiner-Eremiten-Konvent Sankt Antonius in Cologne, Germany. All three of it panels are currently on display together in the WRM. To its left as installed, St. Sebastian is seen curing the wife of a fellow soldier and lending encouragement to his fellow Christians some of whom are imprisoned; to its right, St. Sebastian is shown being condemned to death and fatally beaten with clubs at his second martyrdom. + Image Credit (M 013): Detail of The Martyrdom of St. Sebastian (Martyrium des hl.
