St. Clare of Assisi & Nuns (SAU 027) (Style 2) Notebook
Antique NeoGothic image of St. Clare of Assisi and Her Spiritual Daughters from a late 19th century chromolithographic devotional print drawn by Baron Jean-Baptiste Bethune (1821-1894) and published by the Socièté de St. Augustin, Bruges, Belgium, in the designer’s private collection of religious ephemera. + Reading from left to right, the nuns beneath St. Clare’s mantle are St. Hyacintha of Mariscotti, St. Agnes of Assisi, St. Colette of Corbie, St. Catherine of Bologna, St. Eustochia Calafato, and Bl. Isabella of France. St. Eustochia was canonized in 1988, well after the original publication of this image; hence, the designation “Bl.” (“Blessed”) on the scroll in the lower panel. + Feast of St. Clare: August 11
