Tripura Sundari is a form of Hindu Goddess Shakti. She is one of the ten Mahavidyas or Wisdom Goddesses. Tripura is three worlds and sundari means a beautiful maiden. Therefore, she is the goddess whose beauty is incomparable in all three worlds. She is also known as Shodashi which means one who is sixteen years old. She is an aspect of primordial feminine energy, Adi Shakti. She is known as Tripura because she resides in the three worlds of manas (mind), buddhi (intellect) and chitta (consciousness). She is known as Tripura because she is considered as the mother of Hindu trinity of Gods - Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. She is also known as Kameshwari - the goddess of desire. Tripura Sundari as a awakened as the kundalini energy ascends upwards from the root or Muladhara Chakra, as it move up from Ajna chakra or the third eye chakra, it reaches Soma chakra, which is a sub-chakra and in between Ajna and Sahasrara chakra, and unites with Kameshwara Shiva - the desire god form of Shiva. Thus, the union takes the Yogi in a state of self-awareness. Tara Yantra is contained in a Bhupur (a square with 4 T-shaped doors), the doors give access to the Yantra. Inside the Bhupur are twenty four petals, representing twenty four elements. The Bhupur is green in colour. Green is a neutral colour. It is a combination of hot yellow and cold blue - representing the balance. The six pointed star inside the circle of petals is a combination of upward and downward pointing triangle - the union of male and female energy - Kameshwari and Kameshwara. The kameshwara Shiva is shown as a lingam inside the base of the innermost triangle.
