Ketu Yantra is the sacred geometrical diagram to invoke Ketu - the divine personification of Southern Lunar node - depicted as headless body of an asura (demon). Ketu is the divine personification of Souther Lunar node . In Hindu mythology, Ketu is a demon whose head is cut by Vishnu, when he drank Amrit (elixir of life) disguised as a Deva (demi-god). A strong position of Ketu in horoscope bestows pleasant and disease free life and saves from enemies. He is a part of Hindu system of celestial bodies - Navagraha. Ketu Yantra is contained in a Bhupur (a square with 4 T-shaped doors), the doors give access to the Yantra.. Inside the Bhupur are eight petals, representing the eight elements of the world – space, air, fire, water, earth, mind, intellect, and ego. The Yantra is Dark green in colour, corresponding to the traditional representation of Ketu which is dark in colour. Green is a neutral colour. it is a combination of hot yellow and cold blue. This colour has a restful effect on eyes. The six pointed star inside the circle of petals is a combination of upward and downward pointing triangle - the union of male and female energy. This superimposition of two traingles represents a balanced geometry.
