Henry B. Pauls Sonnigdale farm in December Ceramic Tile
Henry B Pauls was a Mennonite painter known particularly for his paintings of his home in Ukraine before he immigrated in 1923, and also for his paintings of the Canadian prairies where he settled with this family after immigration. Henry immigrated with his parents and his five siblings when he was about 18. Later in life, he began painting scenes from memory, often at the request of friends and family. This painting was commissioned by his sister, Maria (my grandmother). She commissioned three paintings of her homestead, one for each of her children depicting the house at the time they were born. This painting was my mother's; she was born in December 1936. Henry never sold any of his paintings for profit. In that spirit, I am donating any profits from these sales to the Mennonite Central Committee.
