The Dandenong Ranges on the outskirts of Melbourne, Australia is full of old world-charm. The early European settlers planted trees, landscaped gardens and built houses and buildings that brought touches of their homelands to the Australian landscape. One such example is the ever popular "Miss Marple's Tea Room' located on the main street in Sassafras. It is a tudor-style building that has had a number of uses over the years but to most Melbournians it is best known for its current use a quaint English tea room devoted to the Agatha Christie sleuth, 'Miss Marple'. The building is one of the icons of the Dandenongs and tourists line up every day, waiting to enjoy the culinary delights and ambience within. The building seems like an old friend to me, being only fifteen minutes or so from where I grew up in Ferntree Gully. Naturally, I had to capture it in pen and ink and it joins a growing collection of artworks celebrating the unique place that is the Dandenongs.
