Ukiyo-e is a form of Japanese art that flourished from the 17th through 19th centuries. Its artists produced woodblock prints and paintings of such subjects as female beauties, kabuki actors and sumo wrestlers, scenes from history and folk tales, travel scenes and landscapes, plants and animals, and erotica. The word, "ukiyo-e" roughly translates as "pictures of the floating world". Works of great masters from this era have been digitally transformed, sometimes altered or spliced together, and organized into a set of striking compositions for this beautiful wall calendar.
