The vintage illustrations are from Kate Greenaway's Almanack for 1887, now in the public domain, where each of them illustrates a month (except the cover). The illustrations represent gracious girls and cute children in old fashion clothes, doing things corresponding to the season, like harvesting - reaping the wheat crop , picking apples and currants - but also playing with snowballs in winter or with a ball in spring, making flower garlands or dancing in circle among the blossoming trees. Above and below each month illustration there is a flower garland with a blue ribbon.
