Idiopathic intracranial hypertension is a rare neurological condition which can cause blindness, hearing loss, chronic headaches, neck and back pain, and other chronic conditions. Raising awareness could make it easier to diagnose symptoms and understand the condition, which in turn could prevent blindness and disability, and ensure those whose lives are affected receive the care they need. The hummingbird ribbon was designed based on the recognized two-tone awareness ribbon and the hummingbird to represent tinnitus, which is another common symptom of intracranial hypertension.
