This design features a print of a fabric design created by the British artist William Morris (1834–1896), who is associated with the Arts and Crafts Movement. It depicts blue and orange iris flowers in an elegantly symmetrical pattern. The flower is named after Iris, who was the Greek goddess of the rainbow and a messenger for the Olympian gods, carrying messages down to humanity. The leaves and stems of the iris plants are depicted in blue and green. There are a few yellow birds perching on some of the plants' foliage. The original pattern was designed by William Morris in 1887.
