This image depicts the Queen climbing a set of steps as she ascends towards her throne. Some critics have said that this posture is intended to convey the Queen's dignity, strength and femininity. Queen Victoria is turning her head towards the viewer in the moment before she takes her seat on the throne. She is wearing her royal regalia and crown. The original artwork was painted in 1838.
