The girl and the woman are wearing long flowing dresses. The woman is holding a basket and she has clogs on her feet, while the girl is barefoot. The houses are built in a style of traditional architecture with thatched roofs. There are lilac flowers blooming towards the left of the image. The scene is set in the Danish town of Jyllinge, which is located on the eastern shores of Roskilde Fjord. Jyllinge developed around a small original fishing village. The original artwork was painted by Hans Andersen Brendekilde in 1922.
