Fight for the Water Hole by Frederic Remington Stone Coaster Affiliate icon

This design features a painting of the American Old West by Frederic Remington (1861–1909). A member of the second generation of Hudson River School artists, Remington's works are known for depicting the Western United States in the last quarter of the 19th-century, featuring such images as cowboys, Native Americans and the United States Cavalry. The image shows a group of cowboys protecting a vital water hole, which is an important means of survival in the arid desert. They are watching out for their enemies with their guns ready. The cowboys' horses are standing beside the waterhole, while the men are using the surrounding landscape as a mud bunker. The original art was painted in 1903, and it is now housed in the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, Texas, USA.
