The Jewish Bride by Rembrandt Throw Pillow Affiliate icon

This design features a painting by 17th-century Dutch painter Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn (1606–1669), who is generally considered one of the most important artists in the entire history of Western art. The painting has been said to show a Jewish father bestowing a necklace upon his daughter on her wedding day, although this interpretation has been disputed. It could show a husband giving a gift to his wife. In any case, it clearly shows a couple expressing some kind of love. It could, indeed, have been intended to represent figures from the Old Testament. According to Christopher White, who wrote a biography of Rembrandt, the piece is "one of the greatest expressions of the tender fusion of spiritual and physical love in the history of painting." The original artwork is currently housed in the permanent collection of the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam.
