This design features an image of an oil-on-wood painting by American expatriate artist John Singer Sargent (1856–1925). It shows a young woman walking along a backstreet off the Calle Larga dei Proverbi, near the Grand Canal in Venice. There are two men in the shadows to the right of the image. It is an evocative and edgy painting of an everyday sceme. The painting is one of a number of Venetian scenes painted by Sargent, who spent most of his life in Europe, during his time in the city. This particular work was completed in 1882, and it is currently housed in the National Gallery of Art, Washington DC.
