Inspired by many scriptures, including: Psalm 68:4 “Sing to God, sing in praise of his name, extol him who rides on the clouds; rejoice before him—his name is the LORD” Revelation 12:1 “A great portent appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars.” Discussing The woman in Revelation, Pope Benedict explained; “What is the meaning of this image? It represents the Church and Our Lady at the same time,” Pope Benedict I wanted to show the love Jesus Christ has for his followers in this painting.
