This postcard features the Washington Monument in Washington, D.C. Built to honor George Washington, the United States' first president, the 555-foot marble obelisk towers over Washington, D.C. Standing at 554 feet 7 11⁄32 inches, it is both the world's tallest predominantly stone structure and the world's tallest obelisk. It is made of marble, granite and bluestone gneiss.
