Jasper is a specialized municipality in Alberta, Canada. It is the commercial centre of Jasper National Park, located in the Canadian Rockies within the Athabasca River Valley. Jasper was named after Jasper Hawes who operated a trading post in the region for the North West Company. In 1907, the park was established and in 1930, it was granted national park status. Along with other mammalian species found in the park such as elk, fox, grizzly bear, otters, mountain goats, the moose finds its home in Jasper National Park, too!
