NewParkLane - Fine Art Refrigerator Magnet, featuring an early 17th century painting 'Simeon's Song of Praise', made by the famous Dutch painter Rembrandt van Rijn in 1631. This masterpiece is on display in the famous Mauritshuis Museum in The Hague, Holland. Joseph and Mary are in the temple to dedicate their newborn baby Jesus to God, where the child is recognized by Simeon as the long-awaited Messiah. The old man takes him in his arms and bursts into a song of praise. The divine light that floods Simeon appears to be shining from the child himself. This hymn of praise is found in Luke 2:29–32, it is called the Nunc Dimittis for its first words in the Latin of the Vulgate Bible: Nunc dimittis servum tuum, Domine, secundum verbum tuum, in pace, “Now, Master, you can let your servant go in peace, just as you promised.” Because of its implications of fulfillment, peace, and rest, the early church viewed it as appropriate for the ending of the day. Since the 4th century it has been used in such evening worship services as Compline, Vespers, and Evensong. Check out this collection for matching items. Do you have specific personal design wishes?
