This is NOAA’s chart number 11006 and it is based on the original, traditional paper nautical chart. It covers a large section of the Gulf of Mexico along the Gulf Coast States. Coverage extends from Key West, Florida to the Mississippi River. The chart's scale is 1:875,000 at Lat. 26°07’38”N. This chart covers more areas with fewer details than the coastal navigation charts. Color shading on the chart indicates various water depths and land elevations. Depth soundings are in fathoms. Also included on the chart are aids and hazards to navigation. Typically mariners use nautical charts covering this map scale for offshore navigation and planning. This paper chart and others like it will soon be phased out by NOAA. Electronic charts for onboard navigation are replacing paper charts. Certain products in our collection utilize cropped elements on the chart. We remove sections to improve the overall aesthetic quality of the image. Cropping and reprinting charts make them unsuitable for navigation. However, the charts in this collection are ideal for home and business decor. Framed nautical charts make great conservation pieces. Nautical charts printed on other products in our collection make excellent additions to the decor in living areas, bedroom areas, and bathrooms. Nautical charts are also printed on various accessories and apparel. Significant landmarks and navigational references include the Gulf of Mexico, Tortugas Bank, Key West, Florida Keys, Cape Sable, Cape Romano, San Carlos Bay, Charlotte Harbor, Sarasota Bay, Tampa Bay, Tarpon Springs, Crystal Bay, Cedar Keys, Apalachee Bay, Cape San Blas, Panama City, Pensacola, Mobile Bay, Gulfport, Pass Christian, New Orleans, Mississippi Sound, And the Mississippi River.
