This image shows a shrub rose that was introduced in 2001 at the Chelsea Flower Show to coincide with the creation of The Alnwick Garden on a property owned by the Duke and Duchess of Northumberland in Britain. The Duke of Northumberland title was held by Hugh Smithson, the father of James Smithson (1765-1829) who left a bequest to the United States to found the Smithsonian Institution for the "increase and diffusion of knowledge." | Smithsonian and the Smithsonian logo are registered trademarks
