Frederic Remington was an American painter and writer known for art depicting the cowboys, soldiers and Native Americans of the Old West. His love of the rough heroic cowboys and soldiers took him west as a journalist/illustrator and he producing over 3000 paintings and drawings. This painting is called “Conjuring Back the Buffalo” and depicts a medicine man holding a bull skull above his head as he calls on his spirits to return the buffalo to their domain.
