The M48A2 Patton tanks, operating with the 2/47th Infantry, led the way into Cambodia on May 1, 1970 as part of Operation Rockcrusher. The only recognition the tankers received for two months of intense combat was a small bronze campaign star for the Vietnam Service Medal.
