The 2/47th Infantry was awarded its first Valorous Unit Award for the Battle of Long Binh - Bien Hoa on January 31, 1968, the Tet Offensive. A bit over three months later, it earned a second VUA, this one entitled Saigon, 6-12 May 68, but the battle along the banks of the Kinh Doi Canal in Saigon. was more popularly known as "Little Tet", "Min-Tet", and "The Battle for the Y Bridge". The awards, the unit equivalent of the individual Silver Star, in each instance were made a year after the actions, so most Panthers who fought in both battles are unaware they were entitled to wear the VUA with Oak Leaf Cluster. So here is your chance to display it proudly.
