Old Man in the Mountain NH Watercolor Poster Jigsaw Puzzle Affiliate icon

This is a print of the original watercolor painting "Childhood Memories of The Old Man" by Kimberly McCarron. The rock face was formed by glaciers during the ice age and resembled an old man's profile. The Native Americans called it Great Stone Face and have many legends involving the natural rock formation. It has been a historical landmark since its discovery by "white men" in 1805. Although it was reinforced with concrete, steel rods, and chains in the 1950's, eventually millennia of erosion and cracks in the rocks caused it to collapse a little after midnight on May 3rd, 2003. Every summer, as children we would take a family vacation to the White Mountains of NH. Dad would drive up the Kancamagus Highway making stops at the various tourist attractions, or to have a hike at the scenic places along the Flume. My brother and I would be eagerly looking out the window at all the mountain cliffs to trying to be the first to spot The Old Man of the Mountains on Cannon Mountain. The profile is no more, but I will always have my Childhood Memories of the Old Man of the Mountain. Design and Image Copyright © McCarron Art & Design
