William Morris (1834-1896), was a major figure of Victorian society and he was considered a master of textile design and one of the most prominent figure of the British Arts and Crafts movement. Linked to the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, he rejected industrial production and designs of the Victorian era, and sought to revive earlier themes and techniques of art and craftsmanship He advocated a return to medieval crafts, considering that artisans deserved the rank of artists.
