The Great Trees, Mariposa Grove, California (1876) by Albert Bierstadt is a vintage American West fine art landscape nature painting. Old growth, mature, giant sequoia redwood trees in a forest near the south entrance to Yosemite National Park. About the artist: Albert Bierstadt (1830-1902) was a German-American painter best known for his lush, sweeping landscapes of the American West. Bierstadt joined several journeys of the Westward Expansion. He was part of the Hudson River School whose style involved carefully detailed paintings with romantic, almost glowing lighting, sometimes called luminism.
