Bathing Dieppe (1885) by Paul Gauguin is a vintage fine art post impressionism maritime painting. There are some ships, sailboats and boats sailing in the ocean on the northern shore of Dieppe, France. A seascape featuring people having a picnic on the beach and swimming in the sea. About the artist: Eugène Henri Paul Gauguin (1848-1903) was a leader in the Post Impressionist movement which extended Impressionism while rejecting its limitations. They used vivid colors, thick application of paint, distinctive brushstrokes and real-life subject matter, but were more inclined to emphasize geometric forms and to use unnatural or arbitrary color.
