Why the Mail Was Late by OE Berninghaus is a vintage fine art American West painting. Pioneer cowboys are driving in the mountains and valleys of the wild west frontier during a snowstorm in the winter. The men are traveling by a stagecoach pulled by horses delivering the mail. About the artist: Oscar Edmund Berninghaus (1874-1952) was an artist who was one of the founders of the Taos Society of Artists and part of the Taos art colony in Taos, New Mexico.
