Blue Water Creek Battle (aka The Battle of Ash Hollow) (1855) by AJ Miller is a vintage fine art American West portrait painting. A Native American Indian warrior riding a horse and holding a spear. Blue Water Creek Battle was an engagement between U.S. soldiers under Brigadier General William S. Harney and the Brulé Sioux on September 2 and 3, 1855 along the Platte River in Garden County, Nebraska. This battle followed the "Grattan massacre", which occurred in August of 1854. About the artist: Alfred Jacob Miller (1810-1874) was an American painter best known for his Wild West paintings from the northwestern United States.
