Hydra (aka Water Serpents I) (1904-1906) by Gustav Klimt is a vintage Victorian Era Symbolism fine art portrait painting. The Hydra features two women embracing one another as their bodies blend to form a mermaid. The two women have flowing golden hair as they are intertwined. Gold swirls resemble fish scales in a mosaic style. The flesh of the women are in shades of bronze and the pink and black adds an Art Deco style. About the artist: Gustav Klimt (1862-1918) was an Austrian Symbolist painter and one of the most prominent members of the Vienna Art Nouveau movement.
