Buffalo Bill on Charlie (ND) by William Cary is a vintage fine art American West portrait painting. Buffalo Bill (William Frederick Cody) is dressed as a cowboy and holding a rifle gun sitting on his horse named Charlie. Buffalo Bill was an American soldier, bison hunter and showman. About the artist: William de la Montagne Cary (1840-1922) was an American illustrator whose career spanned nearly 30 years. In 1861 he traveled the Missouri River by steamboat and accurately depicted the West before the influx of settlers and transcontinental railroads which has been very informative to many historians.
