The inside of the card contains the following description: “The picture is of a Joker tile taken from a Mah-Jong set made from bone and bamboo (dovetailed together) and measuring just 1.8cm x 2.5cm (0.7†x 1â€). It was probably made in China between 1920 and 1940. In British rules, Joker tiles are used after a drawn game when a version of the game called the “goulash†is played. They take the place of the 2 Bamboos tiles and act as wild tiles, capable of standing for any other tile. This is a particularly attractive joker tile and shows a crane, plum blossom and Chinese characters meaning 'a hundred uses'.†[Ref: Wikipedia: Mahjong tiles]
