Standing next to Holyrood Palace in the city of Edinburgh, Scotland, is the ruined Augustinian Holyrood Abby, founded in 1128 at the order of King David I. The name derives from a relic of the True Cross, which belonged to Saint Margaret of Scotland who was Queen to Malcolm Canmore and King David's sainted mother. Today, Holyrood House is the official residence of the British Monarch while in Scotland.
