Canada classic maple leaf and red borders. Go team go! The maple leaf first appeared on the Canadian flag in 1965, but has been a symbol of Canada since the mid-1800s, when French Canadian settlers took a green maple leaf for their emblem. English Canadians chose a gold one. The stylized red leaf on the current flag represents the ten species of maple trees (Acer) native to Canada, including the sugar maple, silver maple, red maple and Manitoba maple. Maple leaves put on a brilliant blaze of colors in hues of yellow, orange and red. After a couple of weeks they fall to the ground. We used to rake them into big piles and jump into them. It was fun. This maple leaf design is great for sitting on or waving, for sports fans who enjoy hockey, football, baseball, olympic tournaments, major league or the local pee wee game. Happy hollering!
