Girl in Garden Hebe the Cupbearer Goddess of Youth Postcard
This mystic statue which stands in front of a lovely white building in Hull (Gatineau) Québec, Canada. I have taken a gadzillion photos of her and absolutely love this dramatic silhouette from February 2017. The statue is Greek style, a beautiful young woman. In one hand she holds a jug or pitcher next to her hip, in the other a bowl extended outward. She is a classic mythology goddess figure, and finally I discovered her identity - Hebe the Cupbearer, daughter of Hera and Zeus, wife of Hercules, and Greek Goddess of Youth. She is a popular subject in painting and sculpture, with various interpretations. Her statue often graces gardens and outdoor locales. Original photography M Sylvia Chaume.
