There's a wonderful intrinisic harmony in this image. I took a lot of photos to get the light and angles right. Street signs are among my favorite urban art subjects - generally balanced, harmonious, with strong lines and shapes. From a formalist approach you can look at the relationships between shapes. The sign "Reculez" is French for "Turn around, idiot, you're going the wrong way down a one-way street." Paraphrased a bit. Numbers also have a vibrational magic. Number Thirteen is often considered unlucky, but is it really? I mean, a baker's dozen has thirteen fresh hot rolls, which could hardly be unlucky unless your baker wanted to poison you. In any case, this number has a powerful meaning. Number thirteen is an Angel Number, meaning connection to deity and a good time to manifest your desires. In the Bible, number thirteen is the thirteenth apostle, Judas Iscariot, which is why it's often seen as unlucky. However it was the shapes and textures that drew me to this picture, not the speculation of meanings. You can see the leaves of a Manitoba Maple in the back (aha! you say, if it is a Manitoba Maple why is it growing in Quebec? - Manitoba Maples, tough and fast-growing, can be found all over the place. Then we have a faux shingle roof, the straight line of the poles and signs and the main wall. I could go on about this pic forever. Lucky for you, I won't. Original photo by M Sylva Chaume, Quebec, Canada. Happy Blessings!
