Happy Birdday ... hope it's tweet! Happy birthday for anyone who loves nature, birds in general, chickadees in particular; or likes wordplay and bad but funny puns. A punny bit of birthday bird humor for kids and adults, friends, family, co-worker, employee, avian experts, animal lovers, birdwatchers, birders, naturalists or fun flighty bird people you know. These birds are black-capped chickadees who regularly visit our feeder. Charming chickadees are among the most intelligent and friendly of the small songbirds. They're best known for their warning call of "chick-a-dee-dee-dee" with the number of "dee's" varying according to the amount of danger the bird senses. Besides the familiar call, these cute little birds sing a variety of trills, whistles and melodious chirps. Chickadees are often spiritual totem animals, and if you have chickadee as one of your totems you're very lucky. Chickadee always tells the truth, and can make you aware of danger on your path. These are social, happy birds who tend to hang around with mixed species such as cardinals, sparrows, nuthatches and blue jays. They often come to bird feeders and can be hand-fed if you take some patience and care. They're totally mad for sunflower seeds - plant sunflowers or provide (unsalted) seeds to attract them. Chickadees live in hollow trees and stumps, carefully decorating and renovating, and don't care to nest in a nesting box or birdhouse, unless you fill it with sawdust and let them remove that, as if they were clearing out a hollow log. They are omniverous, eating grubs and insects as well as seeds - they often appreciate some suet at a feeder in wintery climates. Tough and adaptable, the chickadee has almost no body fat but can survive bitter cold Canadian winters outdoors, when temperatures can plunge to -30 and more ... they have the unique ability to lower their body temperature dramatically and thus require less heat. Basically, during cold spells they almost die every night! How amazing is that? During the day they're constantly active, as they need a lot to eat. You can adapt the text in the text boxes if you like. There are also two images, one on front and one inside bottom, with plenty of room to write your own greetings, message, words of wit and wisdom.
