Image Courtesy: NASA/JPL/Caltech_This is an image of Mars' inner moon or satellite Phobos. Phobos (which means Fear) is around 20km across as seen in this image. The point which faces Mars is at bottom center, and the large (10km across) bowl shaped object on the left is the Stickney crater. This is VIKING 1 Orbiter Image 357A64 taken on June 10, 1977 at a range of 1590.4 km. The Soviet satellite Phobos 1, in 1989, transmitted back to Earth an image that it took of Phobos and then was never heard from again.
